Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

SECTION 2

Organizational Context and Scope

 
  Zone de Texte: Under the overall supervision of Procurement and Logistics Officer, the direct supervision of Senior Procurement and Logistics Assistant, the Procurement intern will be responsible to assist the mission, in day to day activities of the procurement unit.
 

 

 

 

SECTION 3

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  1. Support the Procurement unit in the process of purchasing office equipment,
  2. Support the organization of workshops, events and IOM activities;
  3. Participate in obtaining quotations and make the necessary comparisons to select the best offers
  4. Assist in the preparation of purchase orders/contracts.
  5. Support coordination of delivery of purchased supplies and equipment.
  6. Assist in fleet management in all the Niger Offices.
  7. Warehouse Management: assisting on warehouse operations, including storage.
  8. Inventory Management: Assist on keeping track of inventory levels, conducting regular stock checks, and ensuring the availability of necessary items.

SECTION 4

Required Qualifications and Experience

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma and training in administration, logistics or related fields.
  • or a bachelor's degree in administration, logistics or related fields.

EXPERIENCE

  • good command of the Microsoft pack; use of integrated management systems.
  • expected good knowledge of the Niger business sector.
  • practical knowledge and experience of international supply chain operational procedure
  • Administrative or logistical position in an international organization an asset.

SECTION 5

Languages1

IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.

REQUIRED

For this position, fluency in French is required (oral and written).

DESIRABLE

Working knowledge of English is an advantage.

As per IN/233, staff members in a position in the Professional and GS categories are expected to be fluent in one of the Organization’s official languages, which are English, French and Spanish. At least a working knowledge of another official language is highly desirable and may be specified as mandatory in some cases. For positions in the GS category, proficiency in one of the local language(s) may also be required, as specified in the VN/SVN.
